Deepak Kumar Acharjee, playing a leading and critical role in the field of Journalism

To Whom It May Concern

I am the Editor-in-chief of The South Asian Times, one of the country`s national English daily newspapers. Today the newspaper has grown to become one of the national newspapers in the country. The South Asian Times is considered to be the most influential newspaper in Bangladesh. As part of its social mission, Deepak Kumar Acharjee (Deepak Acharjee), editor and publisher of The South Asian Times, has been a leading campaigner against violence against women, children rights, drug use, HIV/AIDS, religious extremism, and government corruption. Mr. Acharjee has been playing a critical role in establishing the "The South Asian Times" to the readers at home and abroad. Now the English daily gained popularity. We have both national and international readers from
worldwide.
I have known Deepak Kumar Acharjee personally and professionally since he worked as a Staff Correspondent for The Independent, a national English daily, since 2005.
During his reporting career, he covered wide-ranging news of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, and civil bureaucracy like different ministries of the Bangladesh Secretariat including the cabinet division, public administration ministry, home affairs, shipping ministry, communications, law, justice, and parliamentary affairs, environment, local government as well. Because of the significant role Mr Acharjee has played in the growth and prominence of The Independent (now Defunct) through his extraordinary reporting and he was honored with the "Best Reporter on Human Rights" award by the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in 2010. The issues about "Human Rights" and the articles he has written have contributed to the wide readership of this newspaper and have helped this newspaper become one of the largest and most respected national dailies.
Mr. Acharjee has been nominated for the 18th "UNICEF Meena Media Awards 2023" launched by The United Nations International Children`s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in 2024 for recognizing excellence in journalistic reporting that promotes Rohingya child rights in Bangladesh media.
Mr. Acharjee`s reports were extensively used as a Reference in various websites notably on "The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada"; "Research Gate"; "Sage Journals"; "Library of Congress"; "Landmine and Cluster Munition Monitor"; "JSTOR" (a digital academic library founded in 1995); and many more. He covered the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York as a journalist in 2013, offering insight into global diplomatic affairs. He also toured the United States as a guest of the U. S. Department of State in 2020, visiting Washington DC, New York, and South Korea.
Mr. Acharjee attended the `Army Exhibition in Russia` in Moscow in 2022 and 2023 as a guest, hosted by United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Russia.
Mr Acharjee explored India under the `Familiarization Tour 2023` as Editor of The South Asian Times, strengthening media ties and cultural understanding between the neighbors.

He reported on Bangladesh peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Lebanon, showcasing the crucial role of Bangladeshi peacekeepers abroad in global stability. As a delegation member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence Ministry, Mr. Acharjee also visited Kuwait to oversee the activities of the Bangladeshi military personnel in Kuwait City.
Deepak Acharjee has been working for The South Asian Times as an editor and publisher since 2019 to till date. And since he has played a vital role at The South Asian Times, he has been receiving a high salary regularly as per the ninth wage board of Bangladesh for which he is now among the highest-paid journalists.
His articles and news reports and articles on issues of national and International importance are widely read by prominent worldwide journalists, intellectuals, policymakers, and leaders committed to preventing corruption and promoting government transparency.
I can say without hesitation that Mr. Deepak Kumar Acharjee is one of the best journalists in Bangladesh. As Editor-in-Chief of The South Asian Times, I can affirm that his journalistic talent and skills have helped raise our newspaper to its current stature.
So far, I know, he is also an author of four books, which two books "Human: A Destructive Entity" and "Anecdotes of My Odyssey" are available on Amazon Kindle. Two other books-Aliener Shakhatker (Interview of Alien) and Somoyer Shakhhi (Evidence of Time) are available in the online book store of Bangladesh named https://www.rokomari.com, and https://baatighar.com.

His affiliation and contribution as a journalist are a source of pride for us. I wish him all the best in his pursuit of an objective,

Sincerely,

Syed Akhter Yusuf
